The creativity and self-determination of Oakland youth are nurtured and fully utilized through social innovation, creating communities that are equitable, thriving and in harmony with the natural ecosystem.

To support the leadership of low-income youth of color in creating an equitable, life-affirming economy by providing socially innovative training, collaborative co-working space and access to networks and resources.

Youth Impact Hub Oakland was founded in January 2013 out of a collaborative effort between three existing entities: Impact Hub Oakland, United Roots and Youth SEED. Impact Hub Oakland is a place for social entrepreneurs, change agents and innovators to connect, collaborate, imagine and create solutions for a better world. It is one of the newest members of the international Impact Hub network. United Roots has been serving the community as a media arts and youth healing space since 2010. United Roots provides a youth technology center, an extensive community network and a long track record of developing socially innovative youth programs in the Bay Area. Youth SEED, formally Ashoka’s Youth Venture San Francisco Bay Area, has been a local leader in youth social entrepreneurship since 2009. In 2016, Youth SEED combined forces with United Roots in order to collectively evolve Youth Impact Hub Oakland.
